Jakajima and Mikrocentrum join forces to organise Photonics Applications Week 2020
Eindhoven/Veldhoven April 23, 2020 – Jakajima, Matchmaker for Innovators, organiser of international conferences and Mikrocentrum, knowledge and networking organisation for the technical manufacturing industry, have agreed to join forces to organise the Photonics Applications Week, which will take place from October 5 to October 9, 2020. This cooperation aims to help facilitate the connection between (inter)national end-users of photonics and the corresponding developers. The 3rd edition of the Photonics Applications Week will take place in the Brainport region, in Eindhoven and surroundings.
Photonics (light) is a physics technology that forms the basis of numerous applications in which the contribution of “light” is often not visible. During an entire week, Photonics Application Week offers visitors the opportunity to get to know how this technology operates and how it is applied in real life. Applications in fields such as healthcare, agrifood, telecom, datacom, industry, image recognition, but also in LED lighting and lasers will be shown.
The cooperation between Jakajima and Mikrocentrum connects developers and producers from the technical manufacturing industry. The aim of this collaboration is to introduce these companies to photonics technology in an accessible way and to discover the added value for them. In addition, it will become clear in what way and to what extent photonics-based applications can offer technical advantages and promote profitability.

Jakajima en Mikrocentrum slaan handen ineen voor de Photonics Application Week 2020
Eindhoven/Veldhoven 23 april 2020 – Jakajima, Matchmaker for Innovators d.m.v. (inter)nationale congressen en Mikrocentrum, Nederlandse kennis- en netwerkorganisatie voor de maakindustrie, kondigen de samenwerking aan voor de organisatie van de Photonics Application Week, die van 5 tot 9 oktober 2020 plaatsvindt. Door deze samenwerking worden (inter)nationale eindgebruikers van op fotonica, ofwel licht, gebaseerde applicaties op grote schaal gekoppeld aan de daarbij behorende ontwikkelaars. De derde editie van de Photonics Application Week vindt merendeels plaats in de Brainport regio rondom Eindhoven.
Fotonica (licht) is en blijft een niet eenvoudig uit te leggen natuurkundige technologie die de basis vormt van talrijke toepassingen waarbij de bijdrage van “licht” vaak niet zichtbaar is. De Photonics Application Week biedt gedurende een gehele week bezoekers de kans kennis te maken zowel met de werking van de technologie als toepassingen. Bijvoorbeeld op het gebied van gezondheidszorg, agrifood, telecom, datacom, industrie, beeldherkenning maar ook in LED verlichting en lasers.
Door de samenwerking tussen Jakajima en Mikrocentrum worden ontwikkelaars en producenten uit de technische maakindustrie met elkaar verbonden. Het doel van de samenwerking is om deze bedrijven laagdrempelig kennis te laten maken met de fotonica technologie en de meerwaarde hiervan voor hen te ontdekken. Bovendien wordt zichtbaar op welke manier en in welke omvang fotonica gebaseerde applicaties zowel technische voordelen bieden als de winstgevendheid bevorderen.

Over Mikrocentrum
Als onafhankelijke kennis- en netwerkorganisatie ondersteunt Mikrocentrum al 50 jaar de technische maakindustrie met Opleiden, Ontmoeten en Ondernemen. We bieden meer dan 170 cursussen binnen 15 (technische) gebieden en organiseren jaarlijks 6 vakbeurzen, 5 business events en 15 themabijeenkomsten.
