This session will highlight key areas and potential solutions including:

• Understand the current state of ag data interoperability
• Understanding the long-tail yield of ag data – security, privacy, auditing, provenance
• The role of technical and data standards for mitigating barriers to access, security and usability of ag data

A presentation by Maria Palombini, Director, Healthcare and Life Science Global Practice at IEEE Standards Association.

Her drive is to create ability to make access to data and device equitable to sustain and secure the world’s food supply enabling quality nutrition for all.

In short term she believes the emerging technologies / trends are:

  • The continue growth and use of IoT/sensors in agriculture for monitoring which will minimize barriers to access and feasibility for new generations of farmers.
  • The role of AI at the edge and machine learning in democratized open agriculture data

and in Long-term:

  • The use of open-source hardware and software to minimize barriers to access for smaller farmers
  • The use of digital-twins in large scale farming
