Over the past several years, the field of 3D Bioprinting has increasingly garnered the interest of both academia and the corporate world. As a result, the number of publications and filed patents for 3D bioprinting have recently seen exponential growth. This trend is also visible for the 3D Bioprinting market which is expected to reach $1.4 billion by 2024 with a substantial compound annual growth rate. However, the technological and market development is still hampered by several challenges, especially when it comes to custom-tailored bio inks and the efficient interplay between ink, printing technology and application.

To overcome these hurdles not only the development of innovative bio inks is required but also strengthening cooperation of printing companies and material providers in order to streamline the development and efficiently meet all application requirements.
